Fishguard seal narrow win over Neyland

FISHGUARD ended a run of three straight defeats on Saturday (Mar 12) as they beat Neyland 2-1 at Tregroes Park.

Neyland had beaten Fishguard twice already this season, once in the Senior Cup and in the reverse league fixture, which also ended 2-1.

It looked as if the first half would finish without a goal but Neyland had other ideas as Mike Chandler scored in injury time to give the visitors the lead.

Staring a third defeat against Neyland in the face, Fishguard set about trying to change that and two quick goals in the second half helped them turn the game around.

Kieran King scored on 58 minutes and just two minutes later Jordan Raymond scored to put the hosts into the lead.

That was the end of the scoring as the rain made it difficult for both sides.

Fishguard held on for the win though and they sit fifth in the Division 1 table, a point behind fourth placed Clarbeston Road.

On Saturday, March 19, Fishguard host Monkton while Neyland are away to Carew.
