Kilgetty celebrate Division 2 title win

KILGETTY lifted the Division 2 trophy on Saturday (Apr 23) after their final game of the league season.

They were beaten 2-0 by Merlins Bridge seconds after goals from Simon Morgan and Peter Thomas.

That was just their second loss of the season and the final table sees them finish 11 points ahead of their nearest rivals, St Clears.

They will now look forward to returning to Division 1 but before that, they also have the Senior Cup final to look forward to on Saturday, April 30.

They take on Hakin United and will be looking to make an excellent season even more memorable with a Cup final win.

Kilgetty have won 18 of their 22 games this season, drawing two and scoring 118 goals in the process and only conceding 24 times.

Lloyd Hughes was the top scorer in Division 2 with 34 goals while Richard Cope scored 15 times. Oscar Miles and Richard Tebbutt also picked up 12 goals to their names as they finished in the top 10 of the league’s top scorers.

Kilgetty earned a number of big wins throughout the season and were worthy Division 2 winners.

Saturday’s other game saw St Clears 6-5 by Solva in a topsy-turvy game.
