Beaten by Sue Noake: No way through for Milford Ladies

IN THE FIRST game after the mid-season break, Milford Ladies hosted Sue Noake last Saturday , January 14.

In a fairly even opening quarter, both teams looked good in attack, with the home side creating some decent chances but were denied on several occasions by a solid performance by the visiting keeper.

Sue Noake opened the scoring mid-way through the first half with a well worked short corner.

Shortly afterwards, the home side found themselves two nil down as a break down the right and good cross in to the D was converted high into the net by the visitors’ centre forward, despite stand-in keeper Georgia Davies getting a hand on it.

Despite being two nil down at half time, the home side came out the second half the stronger side and created a number of chances. Looking threatening on the counter attack, it was Charlotte Davies that got Milford on the board with a skillful finish at the far post. Unfortunately for the home side, that was the only goal of the half, despite coming close to an equaliser late on.

Milford captain Emma Summons stated: “It was a tough first game back after the mid-season break. Unfortunately, we took to the field with five of our regulars injured and the youngsters standing in were exceptional. Two of our major strike force also picked up injuries during this game. Hopefully they will be fit for next Saturday; however, it was frustrating that we could not finish the chances we had to pick up some points.”

Milford’s next fixture is on Saturday (Jan 21) away to Abergavenny.

Squad: Emma Summons, Georgia Davies, Vicki John, Kate Farr, Jane Jordan, Charlotte Davies, Sian Davies, Danielle Pitcher-Schofield, Rachel Coe, Elyse Morgan, Meg Jones, Steph Layton.
