Neyland ease past Pembroke in Welsh Cup

NEYLAND booked their place in the next round of the Welsh Cup with victory over Pembroke on Sunday (May 15).

Neyland won the toss and chose to field and they had Pembroke in trouble early on as Jamie Smith trapped Paul White leg before wicket and had Jonathan Rogers caught by George Evans.

Smith claimed a third as he had Andrew Hay caught by Sean Hannon and when Hannon claimed the wicket of Luke Butler, Pembroke were reduced to 17-4.

More wickets fell as Ross Hardy got in the act but scores of 17 from Will Davidson-Randell and 26 from Andrew Price pushed Pembroke’s score up.

Hardy claimed the wicket of both though, caught by Rhys Power and Tom Pritchard, as Pembroke’s resistance ended.

Hardy also bowled Kieffer Thompson before Sam Laugharne ran out Sam Davies on a score of 9.

That meant Pembroke had been bowled out for 87 inside 30 overs.

Neyland wasted little time in their reply as George Evans raced to a half century before finishing not out on 73.

He hit six fours and four sixes as his knock came off 61 balls. At the other end, Nathan Sutton supported and he finished unbeaten on 16.
