Neyland get back to winning ways

Geraint Rees and Jennifer Dunne

NEYLAND bounced back from defeat to Saundersfoot and their Harrison Allen defeat with victory over Llangwm on Saturday (May 14).

Neyland won the toss and chose to bat but they were restricted to 151-9 in their 45 overs.

Ashley Sutton and Lewis Page started well for the hosts as they shared 57 runs for the first wicket.

Page hit four fours in his knock of 32 but he was then bowled by Steven Mills. That sparked a mini collapse as the hosts slipped into trouble on 63-5.

Chris Inward had Andrew Miller caught by Luke Brock for a duck and Steven Mills then bowled Ashley Sutton on a score of 21.

Mills then trapped Gregg Miller leg before for a second-ball duck before Inward did the same to George Evans.

Callum Power and Sean Hannon steadied the ship and they went on to share 59 runs for the sixth wicket.

Power hit six fours in his score of 43 but he was then run out and soon after Joe Phillips had Patrick Hannon caught by Matthew Kiff for a duck.

Phillips also bowled Jack John as Neyland slipped further into trouble on 126-8.

They were indebted though to skipper Hannon as he hit two fours and a six in a knock of 41, before he was bowled by Matthew Kiff.

That score though had propelled Neyland to 151-9 and gave Neyland something they could defend.

Noah Davies made an early score of 10 and Joseph Kiff added 9 but both fell to the bowling of Jack John.

John also bowled Luke Brock for a duck but scores of 28 from Steven Mills and 31 from Matthew Kiff kept Llangwm in the game.

Mills had hit three fours and a six in his score but he was stumped by Sean Hannon off the bowling of Andrew Miller.

Miller also had Chris Inward caught by Gregg Miller who later took the catch to dismiss Joe Phillips to get a wicket for Sean Hannon.

Kiff was caught by Gary Lloyd off the bowling of Patrick Hannon and the same combination struck to remove Toby Asson.

Oliver Davies hit a score of 27 but it wasn’t enough to see Llangwm to victory and he was bowled by Jack John.

Sean Hannon claimed a second wicket late on as he bowled Daniel Morgan and it meant that Neyland had won by 19 runs, bowling Llangwm out for 132.
