Scarlets turn up the heat on the Quins

Quins v Pembroke 11Pembroke Dock Harlequins 3
Pembroke 36
THE new rugby season kicked off with one of the county’s fiercest rivalries, as Pembroke travelled the short distance to Bierspool to take on the Quins, and came away with a bonus point victory.
Over the summer months the Quins lost some key players, which allowed the Scarlets full back Luke Dow to open the scoring with a fine try, which he also converted. Some try line pressure allowed scrum half Andrew Davies to dart through to score a converted try. Full back Dow added a well struck penalty, to place Pembroke well in the driving seat.
It was third time lucky for the Quins fly half Adam John with his penalty attempt as he reduced the deficit by three, before Scarlets flanker Steve Dyde bulldozed over the line for a try, but Dow missed the conversion.
Scarlets captain Geraint Jackson then scored a try which Dow converted before the half time whistle, giving the visitors a 29-3 lead.
The Quins regrouped after the break, and stringed together some of their best phases of the day, but a gritty and resilient Pembroke defence was impenetrable. Centre Sean Dalling sealed the Pembroke win with a converted try.
