Suspected arson in Cardigan

Cardigan CID are investigating a suspected arson following a fire in Castle Street, Cardigan, in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called at around 3.45am today (Tuesday, June 16), and colleagues from the fire service were already on the scene.

Several properties were evacuated as a precaution, and thankfully no-one was injured.

The area remains cordoned off as forensic examinations are carried out, and officers would like to speak to anyone who was in the area in the early hours, or who has information which could help the investigation.

Detective Inspector Richard Yelland said: “We know that there are a number of people in the area at the time the fire started and I would appeal to them to get in touch.”

He added: “I am also very grateful for the patience of the local community while Castle Street is closed.”
