Air ambulance at the scene of serious crash on A40

POLICE and the fire service are also at the scene of the incident which has affected the stretch between Nantgaredig and Abergwili.
The crash happened at around 11.50am and was between a Seat and a Hyundai.
There are several police cars at the scene and at least two road ambulances, together with the air ambulance helicopter which has landed in a field next to the westbound stretch of the A40.
The crash happened on the between the turn-offs for the village of Whitemill. That section of road is closed in both directions.
Diversions are in place through the village of Whitemill so access between Nantgaredig and Carmarthen is possible but traffic is heavier than usual as a result.
A spokeswoman for the fire service confirmed crews from Carmarthen and Llandeilo were at the scene.
A police spokesman told The Herald: “Emergency services are dealing with a road accident on the A40 between Nantgaredig and Abergwili – the road is closed and diversions are being put in place, which may cause congestion, please find an alternative route for your journey.”
