AM supports charity wax

CH170616_Page_15_Image_0023LOCAL AM Lee Waters supported Breakthro member Daniel West in his sponsored leg wax to raise funds at a fun day held on Saturday (Jun 11).

Daniel has been attending Breakthro with his mother, Barbara, since he was three years old and now helps the charity every Wednesday and Saturday on the minibus that collects its members. This year he decided to raise money by waxing his legs and has so far raised more than £70.

Breakthro Llanelli is a club that provides relief, care and social welfare for children and adults in the Llanelli area who have learning disabilities and special educational needs.

Breakthro volunteer Jonathan Williams said: “We are always thinking of and trying new fun ways to raise money throughout the year to help fund carers for two short breaks each year.

“In April , members stay at Butlins in Minehead and in October spend a short weekend break at Trecco Bay in Porthcawl.”

Lee Waters AM added: “Llanelli Breakthro provides an essential service at the heart of our community and makes a big difference to the lives of its members. Daniel’s dedication to Breakthro shows how important the club is to him and his friends.”

“Daniel was very brave, I tore the hairs from his legs and he didn’t scream once!”

Daniel, who is now hard at work in the gym, will be joining the staff at DR Taxis Llanelli as they climb Snowdon at the end of July in aid of Breakthro. Anyone wishing to donate to Daniel can telephone 07940 122776.
