Armed police respond to incident in Carmarthen


ARMED POLICE were dealing with an incident in Carmarthen town centre this afternoon (Aug 11) in Lammas Street as a man was taken away in an ambulance.

Armed police officers were carrying assault rifles, with undercover police officers, police dogs and ambulance services also attending the scene.

All traffic was stopped from going up Lammas Street and police were diverting traffic down Water Street.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at approximately 3:23pm this afternoon, Thursday, August 11, to an incident on Lammas Street in Carmarthen. We sent an emergency ambulance to the scene, but were not required.”

Paramedics were seen with armed officers and a second ambulance arrived at the scene following the departure of the first.

The cause of the incident is not yet known.
