Beach ban lifted for four-legged friend

Dog walkers were often forced to avoid some of Wales’ best beaches during the summer months as beach bans were put in place at many coastal beauty spots from May 1 until September 30, meaning no dogs could go onto the sandy shores except for guide dogs.

While councils tried to enforce the bans, some used by-laws which could result in fines of up to £500 for any offenders. However, if you’re a keen autumn dog walker, many of these restrictions are lifted on October 1. Below is a list of the dog friendly beaches that you can visit with your furry friends this Autumn and Winter:

Ogmore – Vale of Glamorgan

Three Cliffs Bay – Gower

Aberporth – Ceredigion

Cefn Sidan – Carmarthenshire

Whilst some beaches have the bans lifted for only the Autumn and Winter period, others are now lifted all year round allowing your furry friends to visit the beaches anytime they please.
