Body recovered from water off Aberystwyth Harbour

Aberystwyth Atlantic 85 class lifeboatTHE COASTGUARD responded to an incident off Aberystwyth Harbour this morning (Sep 1) after receiving reports from a fishing vessel of a body in the water.

The body was spotted roughly 5 miles offshore.

The Aberystwyth RNLI lifeboat brought the body ashore to the station where the Coastguard, ambulance service and Dyfed-Powys Police were at hand to assist with the transfer to the shore.

The incident is unrelated to an incident yesterday (Aug 31) where a man died after two men were pulled from the sea by the Aberystwyth lifeboat.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm a body of a male has been recovered from the water between Aberystwyth and Borth this morning.

“Enquiries are being made to identify the male. This is in no way related to yesterday’s incident at Aberystwyth Harbour.”
