Carmarthenshire paedophile jailed for four years

Swansea Crown Court

A TUMBLE paedophile who carried on trying to contact young girls despite serving a prison sentence has been jailed for four years today (Nov 13).

Matthew Dale Thompson, aged 37, of High Street, was warned he had come close to getting a 13 year sentence.

Swansea Crown Court heard how Thompson had been jailed for 16 weeks in 2012 for 13 offences of making indecent images of children.

He was also made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order controlling his access to the internet.

But Thompson bought specialised software that would delete his internet browsing.

Thompson then went on download more indecent images of children, two of them ‘depicting unspeakable abuse.’

Thompson also made contact with a 13-year-old girl and two 15-year-old girls and encouraged them to send him photographs of them touching themselves sexually.

Judge Geraint Walters said when the 13-year-old refused Thompson tried to bully her by threatening to publish photographs of her on the internet unless she did as he asked.

Thompson admitted four offences of possessing child pornography, three of inciting under age girls to engage in sexual activity and one of breaching the SOPO order.

Judge Walters told Thompson that if the 13 year old had been just 12 months younger he would have been facing a starting point of 13 years.

“The purchase of that software shows how determined you were to go back to committing these serious offences, despite having served a prison sentence.

“The children in those images were real children suffering real abuse that would have scarred them for life. It happens because people like you provide a market for the material.

“You are a danger to young girls.

“Three quarters of people doing this claim it was not for their sexual gratification. When judges hear that they think about pigs flying,” he added.
