The Chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council has handed over a £170 cheque to a local-based charity.
The DPJ Foundation – which supports people with poor mental health in rural communities – benefitted after Councillor Aden Brinn was sponsored to take part in the annual Saundersfoot New Year’s Day swim.
The Foundation was established in July 2016 following the death of local farmer, Daniel Picton-Jones.
Daniel suffered with his mental health and sadly chose to end his life, leaving a wife and young family.
He felt that there was no support available for him and that he was unable to talk about his personal struggles.
Before he died he left a note, part of which expressed the wish that others in his position might be helped in a way that he felt he wasn’t and, as a result, the DPJ Foundation was born.
