‘Christmas miracle’ as lost kite surfer Chris Goldsworthy found and well

A KITE SURFER has been found safe and well ‘but disorientated’ after spending the night wrapped in his kite after being blown onto mud flats in bad weather,

The police and Coastguard had been involved in the search for a 32-year-old man who was last seen out kite surfing at Pendine Sands on Sunday afternoon (Dec 15).

Chris’ mum, Wendy Goldsworthy told The Pembrokeshire Herald: “Chris was found safe and well. I’d like to thank everyone involved. He’d been blown into Llanstephan mud flats but luckily wrapped himself up in his kite and was walking around trying to get back. I’ve spoken to him.”

An appeal by police had been shared by several news agencies, and the appeal for information had been shared many hundreds of times on Facebook before he was found.

The Police said: “We can confirm that missing kite surfer Christopher Goldworthy has been found safe this morning. After spending the night on marshes near Llansteffan, he made his way to the nearest house and has since spoken to police officers.

“We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal, and our colleagues at HM Coastguard and RNLI for their assistance in the search last night.”

One person on Facebook said that it was a ‘Christmas miracle’ for Chris and his family. A search by the Coastguard had previously been called off due to the worsening weather situation.
