Community comes together to remember Zac

PEMBROKE DOCK Community School came together on Thursday (Jul 14) as they remembered ‘much loved pupil’ Zac Thompson.

The School held a special remembrance service for Zac in the morning and that was followed by a memorial cricket match, named in Zac’s honour, in the afternoon.

Pupils took on staff and Zac’s family in a 100-ball match with twenty players per side. Each bowler bowled five balls and each batting pair had ten balls to score as many runs as possible.

A number of pupils wore t-shirts with a picture of Zac on it and teams played for a trophy also named after Zac.

On Wednesday, July 13, the school also held its very own festival ‘DockFest’.

As part of the event, Martin McGeown, from Pembrokeshire Super Whippy Ice-creams and Jack Worley, donated ice-creams to all the children in memory of Zac.

Martin was joined by his daughter Amirah, who was given special permission from her school, Ysgol Caer Elen, to go and help out.

He said it was ‘very sad’ what happened to Zac and added that he and Jack gave Ice creams to the whole school.

The ice-creams were free and children were asked to bring a small donation to contribute to a collection for Zac’s family.

The school posted on its Facebook page: “HUGE thank you to the very kind Martin McGeown, from Pembrokeshire Super Whippy Ice-creams and Jack Worley of Tenby.”
