Consultation on Blackbridge development plan

blackbridgeLOCAL residents have been invited to a public consultation at Hazelbeach Community Mission Hall in Hazelbeach to learn more about the plans for a Centre of Renewable Energy Excellence, which will hopefully crate 450 jobs, and attract and inward investment into Pembrokeshire.

The company behind the plans, Egnedol Ltd, wishes to make Pembrokeshire an international standard-bearer for cutting-edge clean energy technology, and is hoping that residents will attend the event to share their opinions on the proposed centre, which will be situated on the RNAD Blackbridge site with an eco park for downstream uses at the former Gulf refinery at Waterston.

Included in the plans is a renewable energy facility for converting biomass fuel into clean bio gas, which would be used to either produce green electricity or green liquid fuels.

The disposal of the Blackbridge site was thorn in the council’s side for some time with various schemes for disposal being floated for consideration but rejected as offering to small a return to the local authority.

The sale stems from the Welsh Government’s acquisition of a number of parcels of land totalling approximately 200 acres at nearby Waterston, including the 72 acre site immediately adjacent to the RNAD land at Blackbridge. Knight Frank Property Consultants conducted the campaign for the opportunity of purchasing and developing the land at Waterston from October 2013.

Residents who are unable to attend the event are being invited to share their views by emailing [email protected] or writing to Egnedol Wales Ltd, 1 Saint Marys Street, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, SA31 1TN. More information can be found onwww.egnedol.co.uk
