Council responds to pollution alert

Screen Shot 2016-02-23 at 13.10.05A CLEAN-UP is underway at Nolton Haven after tar-like deposits were discovered at one end of the beach.

Warning signs are being erected and the public is advised to avoid direct contact with the deposits and to keep dogs on leads.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public this morning (Thursday, 4th February) and shortly afterwards the beach was inspected by officers from Pembrokeshire County Council, Natural Resources Wales and the Maritime Coastguard Agency.

Deposits of the substance were confirmed in a small area limited to the south end of the beach. Further materials may be deposited on subsequent high tides.
