INDEPENDENT Councillor David Simpson will return as Council Leader for a further two-year term.
Nominations for the Council Leadership closed today (Friday, April 26).
Despite rumours of a challenge, nobody was prepared to stick their head above the parapet to take on Cllr Simpson.
With the IPPG widely regarded as a busted flush after a series of scandals and missteps during their long period of control of Pembrokeshire, it appears that no single alternative candidate could have mustered enough support to dislodge Cllr Simpson.
David Simpson is the only Council Leader in Wales without the support of a party group or coalition to retain him in post.
A significant proportion of his first two years in office has been spent tackling the fallout from the previous administration, both financial and reputational.
