Search resumes for person in River Teifi

THE SEARCH for a person who went missing in the River Teifi in Cardigan yesterday afternoon (Dec 4) has resumed this morning (Dec 5).

A person was reported to have entered the water by Cardigan Bridge and Dyfed-Powys Police, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Coastguard attended the scene.

The search was called off yesterday evening and resumed at 9am this morning.

A fire service spokesperson said: “Crews from Cardigan, Carmarthen, Milford Haven and Fishguard were sent to an area of Cardigan yesterday after reports of a person in the water.

“As well as the four appliances, we also sent two fire service boats to the scene, one from Carmarthen and one from Milford Haven.”

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: “Dyfed-Powys Police are investigating and conducting local enquiries to verify the identity of the female, they are also in liaison with other Police Forces who have been asked to check their missing person reports.

“The Dyfed-Powys Police Marine Unit is also fully engaged in the search activity. Any person with information to assist with this enquiry is asked to contact Dyfed-Powys Police on 101.”
