Fire breaks out in Newgale scrubland for second time in two days

MID AND WEST WALES FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE says that a fire has broken out again today in scrubland at Newgale.

Fire crews tackled a blaze at a similar location yesterday.

The fire is ongoing with four hectares of scrubland currently alight.

A statement from the fire service says: “We received a call at 12.09 today alerting us to a grass fire in the Newgale area of Pembrokeshire.

“We currently have six appliances, from Haverfordwest, St Davids, Milford Haven (two appliances), Narberth, and Fishguard and Whitland on the scene dealing with the incident.

“An area of approximately four hectares of scrubland is alight and firefighters are proactively fighting the fire utilising hose reel jets and beaters.”
