Fire crew called in to rescue stranded sheep

HAVERFORDWEST Fire crew was called in today (Apr 2) to assist in a multi agency rescue that is said to require further time to complete.

Level 2 Rope Rescue team and Level 3 Specialist Line Rescue team were on the scene along with RSPCA and Police in the rescue a flock of sheep.

The sheep were over the edge of a 100ft cliff in the Abercastle area.

On their Facebook page, Haverfordwest Fire Station confirmed their assistance, saying: “Unusual shout for Haverfordwest today, our Level 2 Rope Rescue team and Level 3 Specialist Line Rescue team assisted the RSPCA and Police in the rescue of 38 sheep that were over a 100ft cliff.

“A great outcome and a perfect example of inter-agency working.”

The rescue operation could take days to come to a close.
