Go ahead for new parking spaces

glangwili-car-parkAN additional 24 staff car parking spaces will be created at Glangwili Hospital to help with on-going efforts to ease car parking pressures.

The planning application for the spaces has been approved and it is anticipated these spaces will be available from April 2017, in addition to the 40 new parking bays created in April 2016 for patients and visitors.

A number of other actions being progressed to improve car parking facilities at the hospital include removal of 38 allocated consultant parking spaces in November 2016 for general use and tighter control of the outpatients’ car park to ensure spaces are used for the benefit of patients.

Wherever possible, staff, patients and visitors are strongly encouraged to use the park and ride service which is currently available from Nant-y-ci car park.

Gareth Skye, Transport and Sustainable Travel Manager for Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “It is fantastic news that we can go ahead with an additional 24 car parking spaces for staff at Glangwili.

“We take the car parking issues on the Glangwili General Hospital site seriously and these additional spaces are a part of our car park improvement strategy that we will continue to implement during the coming year.

“A part of this strategy includes the possibility of introducing an additional park and ride service at Morrisons supermarket. This is currently still under discussion and whilst nothing is confirmed as yet, we will update our staff and the wider public about any developments at the earliest opportunity.”
