Got your brown envelope? Annual canvass form currently being sent to all households

RESIDENTS in Pembrokeshire are urged to look out for their voter registration details from Pembrokeshire County Council on the annual canvass form which is currently being sent to all households.
The annual canvass ensures that the Council can keep the electoral register up to date, identifying any residents who are not registered so that they can be encourage to do so. They can then take part in future elections.
Electoral law in Wales has changed – 14 to 16-year-olds and qualifying foreign nationals living in Wales can now register to vote.
• by registering to vote, a young person can now take part in Senedd elections from the age of 16
• and by registering to vote, a foreign citizen aged 16 or over can now take part in Senedd elections

Next year’s Senedd elections will be the first time 16 to 17-year-olds and qualifying foreign citizens will be able to vote. It is therefore very important to capture these groups of people in the electoral register.
Residents should keep an eye out for the annual canvass form, make sure their details are correct and follow the simple instructions on the form. If you are not currently registered your name will not appear on the form.
This year’s canvass – which the County Council has to carry out by law – is taking place during a challenging public health situation.
Residents can help by responding soonest and online if possible. The instructions on how to do this are on the form sent out. Once a resident has responded, there will be no need to send a reminder.
