Inquest into farmhouse fire opens

THE INQUEST into a fire at a farmhouse in Powys which killed six people has been opened today (Jan 31).

Mr Barkley, Coroner, opened the inquest at 2pm.

The fire, which killed David Cuthbertson and five of his children, has been the focus of an extensive police operation.

So far, the investigation into the fire has cost over £550,000.

Painstaking and methodical work at the scene of the fire has been continuous, with the assistance of police officers drawn from across the south Wales region to help Dyfed-Powys Police conduct a thorough and respectful investigation into incident.

Senior Identification Manager, South Wales Police Chief Superintendent Tony Brown, said: “Our focus has been and continues to be the family who are having to go through the most horrendous of ordeals. We have been supporting them throughout, and continue to update them with any developments.”
