A CARDIGAN man caught dealing in amphetamine for a third time has been jailed for 27 months.
Philip Waring, aged 52, was stopped by police as he drove back to west Wales having collected the drugs from a dealer near Neath.
He admitted possessing a quantity of the drug with intent to supply.
Waring, of 13 Ridgeway, told a judge at Swansea crown court that he had been a courier acting on behalf “of a man who knocked on my door and offered me £100 to drive to Briton Ferry.”
He said he was told that a man would be waiting by the side of the road with a package that he was to take back to Cardigan.
Waring said he would not have sold the drugs himself.
Judge Huw Davies said he did not believe Waring’s version of events.
He said it was the third time that Waring had been convicted of dealing in amphetamine and the “point where anyone could say he’s going to change his ways has passed.”
Waring’s barrister, Dyfed Thomas, said he had been a user of amphetamine “for a long time.”
