Jilted lover in court over revenge porn threat

ON TUESDAY (Jan 8), a woman from Pembroke Dock appeared before magistrates at Haverfordwest Law Court to face charges of cocaine possession and sending a threatening message via electronic communication.

Samantha Bolton, aged 31 of Charles Thomas Avenue, pleaded guilty to both charges.

Prosecutor, Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, said: “The cocaine can be dealt with quickly. She was at Haverfordwest custody and cocaine was found in her purse.

“With regards to the main offence, she was in a relationship with a man and they broke up. He then had a new partner. I’m not sure how she came into possession of photographs of the new partner showing her breasts, but she sent the image back to her.

“With it, she sent a text, saying ‘Haha, tacky as f***, these will be all over Facebook. You want to be careful who [your partner] shows his photos to. Your nipples aren’t even straight – I’ve had six kids and mine look better than that. Nice job trying to prop them up. And why the f*** are they brown? Go and have a wash’.”

Mr Vaughan added: “She admitted sending the messages and said she wanted to cause upset.”

Defence solicitor, Jonothan Webb, said: “A guilty plea has been made to both matters and were admitted at the police station.

“She was arrested for an unrelated matter where no action was taken. The drugs were for recreational purposes.”

Speaking of the main offence, Mr Webb explained that she came to find the photo as her son was given the phone.

Mr Webb said: “Son sees the photo, she sees it, uses it. She doesn’t show it to anyone else. She just wanted to toy with them. She had no intention of sharing it with anyone. There was no campaign or wider distribution, although there will be a wider audience as a result of today.”

After speaking to probation officer, Julie Norman, Bolton was sentenced to a 12-month community order, with a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement. She must also carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

In addition, she must pay court costs of £85, and a victim surcharge of £85.
