Johnston: Air Ambulance attends lorry crash on A4076

lorry3EMERGENCY services have attended a road traffic accident involving a lorry on the A4076 between Johnston and Haverfordwest, near the Johnston Fish Bar & Cafe, Popehill.

Two fire units, ambulance and police closed the road in both directions, after a lorry veered off the road and fell down a small embankment and landed on its side.

No other vehicle was involved in the incident.

The Welsh Air Ambulance attended the scene to provide medical assistance to the driver of the lorry. The police later confirmed that the driver was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The Herald was on scene at the incident: and spoke to a couple who were in a car travelling in the opposite direction, The driver of the car who witnessed the crash said: “The lorry was coming up the hill slowly towards us, when the driver seemed to slump forwards slightly.

“At the same time his lorry drove towards the centre of the road. we thought he was going to turn right. it all happened in slow motion.

“However the lorry missed the turning and the lorry drove off the bank and the lorry rolled onto it’s side.”

The witness added: “What has happened is very shocking.”
