Latest on Michael O’Leary, 55, missing from Nantgaredig

55-YEAR-OLD Michael O’Leary, from Nantgaredig, was reported missing on Monday, January 27. Andrew Jones, 52, from Bronwydd Road, Bronwydd, Carmarthen, was charged with his murder on Monday afternoon (February 3) and appeared in court in Swansea yesterday (Wednesday, February 5).

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Jones said: “We are very grateful for the support from the community and the wider public over the last 11 days. In particular, we would like to thank those who have come forward with information about a cyclist who was spotted travelling between Capel Dewi and Cwmffrwd on the evening of January 27.

“We have received a number of valuable calls following this appeal, but are still yet to identify the cyclist. I would like to reiterate that any detail – no matter how small it may seem to you – could prove vital to this ongoing investigation, and would urge people to get in touch if they remember seeing a cyclist in a high vis jacket in the area that night.

“This includes any dash cam, private CCTV, or ‘smart doorbell’ footage they might have. We also remain keen to speak to anyone who saw Michael’s vehicle – a silver Nissan Navara – between Cwmffrwd and Capel Dewi between 8pm and 10pm on Monday, January 27.”

Specialist officers continue to search a number of areas for any evidence that could assist the investigation, including various sites across Carmarthenshire and a landfill site in Pontardawe.

“The search will continue as we explore all possible avenues,” added DCI Jones.

“Our thoughts remain with Michael’s family at this very difficult time.”
