Lifeboat comes to rescuers’ rescue

FERRYSIDE lifeboat came to the rescue of a stricken vessel which had already rescued three people from a sinking boat yesterday (Jul 29).

The lifeboat was providing support for the Welsh Open Water Estuary Swim when they received a call about a boat which had lost power and was on Salmon Scar.

The boat had previously rescued three people from another vessel which sank in the bay before losing power.

Describing it as ‘a complicated and difficult’ service request, a Ferryside Lifeboat spokesperson said: “Ferryside Lifeboat established a tow in difficult circumstances and took the vessel to Carmarthen Bay Holiday Park where they were handed over to our colleagues in Burry Port Coastguard and the Welsh Ambulance Service.

“Burry Port RNLI also in attendance but were stood down soon after arriving on scene.”
