A MAN from Llandysul has been named as the ‘Most Promising Trainee Civil Engineer’ in a prestigious award ceremony.

Ieuan Jones joined Hertfordshire-based VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd in September 2012 just after completing his first-class honours Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.

Ieuan’s impressive award win was part of the Civil Engineers Contractors Association (CECA) Southern awards programme.

David Mutter, Project Director at VolkerFitzpatrick, said:

“Over the last three years, Ieuan has developed into a very mature and valued member of the team, earning respect from both his own team and work colleagues.”

When working for the company, Ieuan continued to express his passion for learning whilst enhancing and strengthening his skill set through practical engineering experience with VolkerFitzpatrick.

Mr Mutter continued: “He has a passion for engineering, an engaging approach to learning and never turns down an opportunity to take on board new responsibilities and challenges.

“He is certainly a worthy winner of this award.”

The CECA Southern Awards for Recruitment and Training are presented to trainee civil engineers, as well as apprentices and lifetime achievers in recognition of exceptional performance and dedication to their careers.

As part of his award win, Ieuan received an engraved cup, certificate and cheque for £500 at the CECA Annual Dinner which was held at the Lancaster Hotel in London.
