A LLANELLI man set himself up as a professional distributor of child pornography, a judge heard today.
Jake Cannon said he had no sexual interest in viewing the images himself—he just wanted to sell them to paedophiles to make money.
Cannon, of Pleasant View, Felinfoel, peddled images of children being physically tortured and raped.
Swansea Crown Court heard that a police computer expert who examined the images described them as the worst he had ever seen.
Cannon, aged 22, admitted possessing and distributing indecent images of children and was jailed for 15 months.
Dean Pulling, prosecuting, said police raided his home and seized a number of computers.
While officers were there an email arrived in which the sender asked for a “kids porn video link under seven.”
Cannon volunteered that “that was the sort of material I am interested in.”
He later told police during interviews that he had been swapping indecent images of children—including some of himself—since he had been 13 years of age.
Cannon explained that he got into debt and decided to make money out of child porn.
He had been sending indecent images of children, including films, to people he thought could send him similar material in return with the hope of building up a library “of some value.”
Mr Pulling said it was not possible to say which images Cannon had distributed.
The police expert found 1,974 indecent images and films of children on three computers, 55 of them in the most serious category including some depicting the real life torture of infants.
Jailing Cannon, the judge, Mr Recorder Peter Rouch, said he had been, in effect, continuing the abuse of children by both seeking out such material and then passing it on to others.
Cannon was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order restricting his access to computers and to children.
He was also ordered to register with the police as a sex offender for the next 10 years.
