Local businessmen trade suits for lycra for charity cycle ride

CH170616_Page_19_Image_0003TWO local businessmen and their two friends traded their desks for bicycles as they took to their bikes for four days to raise money for a local charity, cycling the length of Ireland.

Covering a total of 348 miles from Malin Head in the North to The Beacon at Baltimore in the South, the four riders cycled on behalf of Cariad Defibrillators, a local charity who are trying to place defibrillators in every school, college and public building in Wales.

Local businessman, Roger Bowen, who runs TaxAssist Accountants in Llanelli, was one of those who traded in his suit for lycra to take part.

Roger said; “We’re a third of the way through our cycle challenge and have already raised a third of our total target. With two more bike rides to come, I’m confident we can hit our 10K target and be able to present a great cheque to a great local cause.”

To date, this charity bike ride has raised more than £3000 and counting. The next challenge in July sees Roger and fellow cyclists tackle a 500-mile trek around the coast and border of Wales, before finishing the three race challenge visiting the Capital Cities of Great Britain and Ireland in September, travelling 1000 miles.

TaxAssist Accountants Llanelli is a local business, operating across Carmarthen, Llanelli and Swansea, providing tax and accountancy advice and services purely to small businesses.
