Lucky escape for motorway driver

Police-tape-at-scene-of-s-008-300x180A WEST WALES lorry driver had a lucky escape on Wednesday night (Jan 6) after a large concrete block was thrown off a bridge on the M4.
The driver, who is from the Cardigan area, was not injured The incident took place near Sarn Services, Bridgend.
However, serious damage was caused to the roof of his vehicle, and four further vehicles were damaged when the block fell to the road.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police told The Herald: “South Wales Police is investigating an incident that occurred on the M4 motorway near Sarn Services, Bridgend, at approximately 19.​55hrs on Wednesday, January 6.”Damage was caused to the roof of a HGV when a large concrete block was dropped by person/s unknown from the foot bridge which links the A4063 Sarn By-pass and Penycae Lane.
“After hitting the vehicle the concrete block then fell onto the surface of the carriageway. Four more vehicles were damaged after hitting the debris.
“It is extremely fortunate that the drivers were unhurt, however the damage caused to the vehicles involved could amount to thousands of pounds.
“South Wales Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the incident or who know the identity of the culprit/s to please ring 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.”
