Lucky escape after Land Rover fire

FIVE people were fortunate to avoid injury after the vehicle they were travelling in caught fire on the A48 on Sunday (Jun 10).

The Land Rover, which was travelling west between Cross Hands and Foelgastell, caught fire at around 9.45am.

There were five people in the vehicle, which was towing a boat, and the inside lane of the carriageway was closed while fire crews from Carmarthen and Tumble tackled the blaze, using a hose reel jet, thermal imaging camera, and granules to absorb spills from the vehicle.

The quick response from the fire crews was praised by PC Alex Jones of the Carmarthenshire Roads Policing Unit, who said that this prevented the situation from worsening.
