Made to sweat over ‘phet’

RICHARD WILLIAMS of Aberporth appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (Jan 3) to face a charge of amph-powderspossession of 3.73 grams of amphetamine. Williams, aged 38 pleaded guilty to the charge.

The CPS prosecutor said: “The defendant threw a package away after being stopped by police in Cardigan. After being asked what it was, the defendant answered, ‘phet’. Looking sheepish, the defendant told the police: ‘Sorry, my head had gone’.”

Defence solicitor, Jonathan Webb said: “The defendant has stated that he purchased amphetamine because his ‘head had gone’. He made an early guilty plea, and he is making good progress with his current community order.”

Magistrates’ imposed a fine of £180 and ordered the destruction of the amphetamine and the £5 note used.
