Man airlifted to hospital following collision

air-ambulanceDYFED-POWYS POLICE are investigating a road traffic collision which happened on Saturday (Oct 8), approximately a quarter of a mile from the Carno side of Caersws on the A470, which resulted in a man being airlifted to hospital.

The collision happened at 7:35am.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash: a blue Ford Fiesta, driven by a 19-year-old male from Llanidloes; a grey VW transporter, driven by a 53-year-old male from Hereford; a silver Renault van, driven by a 46-year-old male from Worcester; a silver VW GOlf, driven by a 27-year old male from Newtown.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Royal Stoke Hospital where his condition remains critical.

The road remained closed for approximately 5 hours to allow police forensic collision investigators the opportunity to survey the scene.
