Milford Haven: Arrest after parked cars damaged in Conway Drive ‘drink-drive collision’

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a collision involving his car and a number of parked vehicles in a quiet residential street in Milford Haven.

The suspect was driving up Conway Drive at approximately 7.15am on Sunday morning (Sept 6) when he lost control and collided into several cars parked on private drives and in the street.

A brand-new Mercedes Benz C300, a Mercedes Benz A150, a BMW and a third Mercedes were among the cars damaged as well as the Audi driven by the arrested man.

Eight police vehicles raced to the scene of the incident to find that despite colliding with a number of fences and parked cars, the suspect had attempted to continue his journey with the windscreen smashed, airbag inflated and with heavy damage to the front of his vehicle.

It is not thought that anyone was hurt in the incident, but the damage caused is expected to come in at tens of thousands of pounds with the brand-new black Mercedes alone being worth nearly £30,000.

A spokesman from Dyfed-Powys Police told The Pembrokeshire Herald: “A 38-year old male from Milford Haven has been charged with driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above the limit and failing to stop after a road accident.

“He has been bailed to appear at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on December 1.”

Milford Haven Town Councillor Eddie Davies, who lives next door to where the incident happened, said: “Can I please ask residents of the estate to report any drivers speeding or driving without due care and attention to take their vehicle registration number, and report to the police or pass information onto me. I will report them.

“Thankfully, no one was injured during this incident but with the number of dog walkers and children walking up and down Conway Drive this could have been catastrophic.”
