New butterfly house for NBGW

083THE NATIONAL BOTANIC GARDEN OF WALES is opening its brand new Butterfly House – Plas Pilipala – on Friday, July 1.

As announced in last week’s Carmarthenshire Herald, Plas Pilipala is the first, new, big attraction at the Garden for many years and coincides with a big push to make the Garden more attractive to a more ‘family’ market. To support this drive, the Garden is also doing water-zorbing, and has a straw bale maze in place.

There are 100 days of family activities, a ton of fun & games and a sparklingly new and hugely fun £50,000 play park.

The Butterfly House forms a key part of the Garden’s very important mission of Saving Pollinators – and underpins the scientific research work we are doing with bees, pollen, honey, hoverflies, moths and other pollinators.

A big part of the butterfly story is about what people can do in their own back yards to attract ‘native’ pollinators – which plants to plant etc.

But it is also going to be a helluva lot of fun!

The National Botanic Garden is open from 10am to 6pm every day. Admission to the Garden is £9.75 (including Gift Aid) for adults and £4.95 for children over five.

Entry is free for Garden members and parking is free for all.

NB: There is no additional charge for the Butterfly House.
