Newcastle Emlyn man accused of breaching bail conditions

shutterstock_218872729A FORTY SEVEN year old Newcastle Emlyn man was remanded into custody by Magistrates in Haverfordwest on Friday (Jul 29).

Malcolm Roy Edwards, of Station Rd, is facing three charges of breaching bail conditions and one charge of persistently making use of a phone network for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, or needless anxiety.

The prosecution is alleging that Edwards made a 999 call on May 23 when there was in fact no emergency.

He had previously been warned not to do so and, in fact one his bail conditions from a previous case was that he should not telephone 999 unless it was a genuine emergency,

Edwards is accused of failing to surrender to custody at Llanelli Magistrates Court on June 29 having been granted bail by the court on June 24.

He has pleaded not guilty to this offence.

Due to his breach of bail conditions he was taken to prison to be brought in front of Aberystwyth Magistrates’ on Aug 3.

The court considered, that due to the circumstances, Edwards was likely to re-offend.
