Pembrokeshire County Council Leader’s coronavirus update 18th May

PCC County Hall

Pembrokeshire County Council Leader, Councillor David Simpson,
has provided a further coronavirus update for Monday, 18th May, as
follows:

‘Normally on a Monday morning the majority of people all head off to
start a fresh new week at work. However, as has been the case for
the last few months, today and every other day is very different.
‘It has taken us time to adjust to the new way but, as a county, we
have learnt to adapt and change to ensure the safety of everyone.
‘This morning we announced that we will be re-opening up our Waste
and Recycling Centres (WRCs) from next Tuesday (26 th May). This
decision follows Welsh Government advice.

‘Due to the prevailing circumstances, we are not able to re-open and
operate as we did before the lockdown. We have to manage our
WRCs safely and adhere to social distancing guidance.

‘So in order to make use of the centres, you will have to book a slot
by contacting the Council. This new booking system will open from 9
am on Wednesday (20 th May).

To book a slot contact us via our on-line system at:

www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/waste-bookings or, if you are unable to
do this, by calling our contact centre on: 01437 764551

‘I want to reinforce the message that nobody will be allowed into a
centre unless you have pre-booked.

‘I hope you all appreciate and understand that we need to carefully
manage the re-opening of our WRCs. So please be patient and work
with us to get this right for everyone.

‘While on the subject, I want to thank all the officers that have been
involved with planning this important re-opening.
