Pembrokeshire escapologist in Britain’s Got Talent final

PEMBROKESHIRE-BORN escapologist Jonathan Goodwin took part in the final of Britain’s Got Talent on Sunday (Jun 2), but his death-defying performance wasn’t enough as Colin Thackery was voted the winner.
Hailing from Robeston Wathen, Jonathan had shocked both the audience and judges with his daring display, in which he was buried in one-tonne of gravel, whilst handcuffed, chained and suspended in the air.
Buried alive, 39-year-old Jonathan had to first untangle free himself from the chains and then reach for a rope which would release the gravel.
Speaking to Ant and Dec after his performance, Jonathan said: “The rush that you get when you bury yourself and don’t die is brilliant.”
Previous tricks have included being set alight whilst hanging upside down in a straight jacket and playing a game of ‘blindfold chicken’ with crossbows.
Chelsea Pensioner Colin Thackery won the competition, having performed the song Love Changes Everything, from the musical Aspects of Love by Andrew Lloyd Webber. As winner, he received £250,000 and the chance to sing at the Royal Variety Performance.
