THE CILYCYM by-election vote took place yesterday (Sept 22) which resulted in victory for Dafydd Tomos and Plaid Cymru gaining a seat.

The by-election was needed following the death of veteran independent councillor, Tom Theophilus, on July 5.

The full results of the by-election were:

Dafydd Tomos – Plaid Cymru – 201

Matthew Paul – Independent – 106
Jacqui Thompson – People First – 64

Dafydd Tomos’ priorities include faster broadband speeds and better mobile network coverage.

He already hosts on his land a mast for delivering wireless broadband to people in Cilycwm.

He said following the death of Tom Theophilus: “I’m standing to be the next councillor for the communities of Cilycwm, Llansadwrn and Llanwrda as I believe I have the experience, the commitment and the passion to advance the needs of the area, and deliver tangible benefits to the residents of North Carmarthenshire.”
