Pont-ar-Gothi: Pub closes as flood water reaches ground floor windows

A CARMARTHENSHIRE pub was forced to close after Storm Callum meant flood water has reached higher than the ground floor windows.

Staff at the Cresselly Arms pub in Pont-ar-Gothi, Carmarthen told The Carmartheshire Herald that they were devastated by the flooding and were left with no choice but to close the pub with ground floor along with the garden sitting underwater on Saturday. On their Facebook Page the pub management said: “We are sorry to have to say this but we will be closed. The building has been hit bad by the flood and our downstairs along with our garden is sitting under water. The fire brigade have been on the bridge with us all throughout the night and still are but sadly until river level drops they can’t start pumping out.

“We will of course update you every step we can and I am trying to get back to everybody who has messaged with their offer of help. For now we will crack on as much as we can and keep you up to date with opening ASAP. Many thanks to you all.”
