Pontargothi: 100 sheep were washed away as River Towy burst banks

A FLOCK of over one hundred sheep have been washed away in flood water as the Towy burst its banks this weekend. The animals were washed into the water at Pontargothi, after flooding in the area on Saturday, October 13, Dyfed Powys Police have confirmed to The Herald

A witness said on social media said that he saw a sheep ‘floating down the river’.

A police spokesman said: “Anyone who sees any sheep wash up anywhere or has information is asked to contact Dyfed Powys Police on 101”

Yesterday, a police spokesperson added: “Our advice is to only travel if it is essential. If you need to make a journey, check for road closures beforehand. Observe closures and warning signs and never risk driving through flood water.
