A CARMARTHENSHIRE man who suffered severe brain injuries after being attacked by a group of 4 men is holding a presentation later today (Jan 6) on the tenth anniversary of incident.

The event is being held at Cwmamman Football Club.

36-year-old Paul Pugh was left with severe brain injuries following the attack in Ammanford on January 6, 2007.

He says that it’s been an ‘extremely tough 10 years’ after spending two months in a coma, which lead to four men being jailed.

In the years since his attack, Paul has worked hard to rebuild his life and had to re-learn basic  skills all over again.

Talking to the BBC he said: “I’ve had to learn to walk and talk again and come to terms with the fact I will never fully recover.

“But I’ve turned this experience into something positive by telling my story to others.”

Paul launched Paul’s Pledge in 2014 with Dyfed-Powys Police which campaigns against alcohol-fuelled violence.

He continued: “I’m over the moon that the campaign has been rolled out to cover the whole Dyfed-Powys Police force area meaning I get to speak to many more young people about the impact violence and alcohol has had on me and my loved ones.”
