Road signs swapped around in ‘prank’

WELCOME SIGNS have been swapped around by pranksters in three Carmarthenshire villages, as well as speed limit notifications.

The roadside markers for Efailwen, Login and Llanfallteg have been switched around, whilst 30mph speed limit markers have been mixed with national speed limit signs.

Efailwen welcomed visitors to Login, which became Llanfallteg, which greeted people to Efailwen. The changes were first noticed on Friday.

Carmarthenshire council board member Hazel Evans spoke to the BBC, saying: “This seems to have been a moment of jest for someone, but this does impact on our resources and more importantly could cause accidents in the area as a number of speed restriction signs have also been tampered with.”

The pranksters had gone to a lot of effort, managing to switch the signs on the A478, which is the main road to Crymych.

The restored Login Railway Station posted on their Facebook page: “Customers arriving at Login yesterday were slightly confused by the signage. On entering the village they were met with a welcome to Efailwen! The Login sign is now outside Llanfallteg and the Llanfallteg sign is now on the A478 outside Efailwen.”
