Say it ain’t snow: Weather warnings as Storm Jonas arrives in Wales

Road-Flood-FloodingAFTER the rainiest December since records began in 1910, the UK is set to be battered by blustery downpours once again this month.

Storm Jonas, which brought flurries of deep snow to the US, is now set to bring low temperatures, wind and torrential rain to Britain. The Met Office has revealed that a yellow weather warning for rain and flooding is in place for Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday when the tail end of the storm hits Wales.

Rebecca Simpson, a Met Office forecaster, said: “Anywhere in Wales could see heavy outbursts. The yellow warning covers the whole of Wales, apart from the North East.”

Jonas will push into most of Wales by Tuesday morning (Jan 26), causing severe gales all along the Pembrokeshire coastline.

The Met Office added: “Many parts of the warning area could see 30-60mm of rain, whilst the most exposed upland parts of South Wales could see 100-150mm.”

On Thursday, however, a drying cold front is predicted to move into Wales before persistent heavy rain and strong Southerly winds return to hit Wales on Friday.
