‘Singcredible’ opportunity for local pupils

HUNDREDS of local primary school pupils will have a unique experience later this year, singing with a leading symphony orchestra at major concert halls.

Pupils from local primary schools across Carmarthenshire will take part in SINGCREDIBLE, an exciting school outreach initiative by the Llanelli’s famous Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers. SINGCREDIBLE will give primary school children the experience of professional performances at leading concert halls and singing with a symphony orchestra.

Taking part will be year 5 and year 6 pupils from Burry Port Community Primary School, Pentip VA Church in Wales Primary School Llanelli, St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School Llanelli, Ysgol Gymraeg. Brynsierfel Llwynhendy, Ysgol Pen Rhos, Llanelli and Ysgol y Castell, Kidwelly.

“We have been overwhelmed at the speed and enthusiasm of the response,” said Jeremy Hywel, Creative Director with the Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers.

“Regrettably, with the pupil numbers now approaching 250 pupils, we’ve had to implement a strict first come first served basis for participation.”

The SINGCREDIBLE chorus of local primary school children will first perform at the traditional sell-out Christmas Fantasia at Y Ffwrnes on December 2 performing with the symphonic sounds of the British Sinfonietta, Wales’ famous Hywel Girls’ Choir and Hywel Boy Singers and the exciting Angelicus Celtis as seen on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

On December 10, the pupils will then perform on the magnificent stage of Swansea’s acclaimed Brangwyn Hall for a Festival of Christmas with plans for the performance to be recorded.

The performance by the giant Singcredible Chorus will include music from John Williams’ Home Alone, Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee, a big orchestral Joy to the World, a heart-warming and roof-raising O Holy Night as well as exciting fanfare performances of Hark The Herald Angels Sing and O Come All ye Faithful.

Schoolgirl members of the celebrity Angelicus Celtis who are enjoying television and radio fame currently will be ambassadors and mentors to each school.

“Our only regret is that the concert stages and audience auditoriums weren’t bigger to welcome more pupils to take part and allow more members of the public tickets to hear the pupils perform in these exciting events”, explained legendary conductor John Hywel Williams who will conduct the chorus.
