A DOLPHIN which became stranded at Ynyslas beach, Borth, did not survive the beaching despite frantic attempts by surfers and HM Coastguard.

The dolphin, which was around 18 months old, and female, died before it could be re-floated and released.

Ceredigion assistant reserves manager for National Resources Wales, who took the photograph, was on site and assisted in the rescue attempts. She said that the UK Cetecean Strandings Investigation Programme will not complete a post mortem.
